You’ll get to know the people behind AVA a little better, see what inspires us, and follow along as we grow together. Whether it’s welcoming new team members, celebrating achievements, or simply sharing moments that make our culture what it is, AVA Coffee Talk is where it all comes to life.

what we've been up to

Life lately has been full—in the best way. From Girl Scouts adventures and dance competitions, to the annual Financial Growth Partners gala and 2026 Canva Create conference, we've been busy celebrating all the growth and accomplishments along the way!

In between it all, we’ve had some pretty special moments—family time, big life events, and making memories that keep us grounded. A major highlight was heading to California for the Canva Conference, where we soaked up tons of inspiration and finally checked a few bucket list spots off along the way.

Now, with the weather finally starting to turn, we’re feeling that fresh spring energy and are so excited for what the next few months have in store 🌷

COWBOY CHICKEN CHOWDER

Nothing says comfort like a crockpot full of cowboy chicken chowder simmering all day. As we soak up these final chilly days, it’s the perfect excuse to lean into warm, hearty dinners that bring everyone to the table. Easy, cozy, and exactly what we need before spring fully takes over!

Ingredients:

avocado oil

1/2 medium onion diced

1/2 cup cooked bacon chopped

1 lb chicken breast

4 cups shredded hash browns

2 cups corn

4 cups chicken broth

3 tbsp butter

3 tbsp flour

2 cups whole milk

8 oz shredded cheddar cheese

1 tbsp minced garlic

2 tsp Dijon mustard

2 tsp paprika

1 tsp chili flakes

1 tsp dried thyme

1/1 tsp cayenne pepper

2 tbsp chopped parsley

salt and pepper

Instructions

1. Sauté for flavor (optional but recommended)
In a skillet, heat a little avocado oil and sauté the diced onion and minced garlic for 2–3 minutes until fragrant.

2. Add to crockpot
Place chicken breasts in the crockpot. Add sautéed onion/garlic, bacon, hash browns, corn, chicken broth, Dijon mustard, paprika, chili flakes, thyme, cayenne, salt, and pepper.

3. Cook
Low: 6–7 hours
High: 3–4 hours
Until chicken is fully cooked and tender.

4. Shred chicken
Remove chicken, shred it, and return it to the crockpot.

5. Make it creamy
In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for 1–2 minutes to make a roux. Slowly whisk in milk until smooth and slightly thickened.

6. Add cream base + cheese
Pour the milk mixture into the crockpot and stir. Add shredded cheddar cheese and mix until melted and creamy.

7. Finish & serve
Let cook on low for another 15–20 minutes to thicken. Taste and adjust seasoning. Top with chopped parsley before serving.

Tip: If you want to skip the extra step, you can add the milk and cheese directly—but the roux gives it that thicker, chowder-style texture.
