Where Conversations Brew
Welcome to AVA Coffee Talk—our official AVA Wealth Advisors blog, created by our team with you in mind. We chose the name “Coffee Talk” to capture the easy, conversational feel of a coffee shop—whether you’re sipping coffee, tea, or just a glass of water, this is a space for relaxed, meaningful conversation.
Here, we’ll be sharing what’s new with our team, from exciting milestones and behind-the-scenes moments to team highlights, celebrations, and everyday wins. Think of it as pulling up a chair with us and catching up on what’s been happening lately.
You’ll get to know the people behind AVA a little better, see what inspires us, and follow along as we grow together. Whether it’s welcoming new team members, celebrating achievements, or simply sharing moments that make our culture what it is, AVA Coffee Talk is where it all comes to life.
Summer, Slowing Down & Making Room for What Matters
Between long weekends, family adventures, sporting events, vacations, and the occasional excuse to stay outside just a little longer, our AVA Wealth team has been soaking up every bit of summer and, perhaps most importantly, making time to be present for it!
From polo matches and baseball games to golf tournaments and afternoons spent having backyard fun, there have been plenty of opportunities to step away from the day-to-day and simply enjoy the people and experiences that make life meaningful. And for the Vahue family, summer included a pretty unforgettable adventure across the pond!
From Backyard Fun to Belgium
The Vahue family took a big summer trip to Belgium, where they fully embraced the assignment: eat the chocolate, eat the waffles, explore the castles, and make memories.
They toured beautiful castles, experienced the excitement of F1 racing, and of course, ate their weight in Belgian chocolate and waffles. (Some vacation rules are meant to be broken.)
It was the kind of trip that creates stories you'll talk about long after the suitcases are unpacked!
The Point of the Plan
At AVA Wealth, we spend a lot of time talking about planning for the future.
Saving. Investing. Protecting what you've built. Preparing for the unexpected. Thinking about the next chapter and the generations that come after you.
But here's the thing:
What's the point of planning for your life if you never make time to actually live it?
Financial planning isn't about creating a life where every decision revolves around your money. It's about creating the flexibility and confidence to use your resources intentionally for the things that matter most to you.
That might mean taking the big family vacation you've been dreaming about. It might mean having the freedom to spend a Saturday at the ballpark, teeing off at a charity golf tournament, attending a polo match, or simply spending an afternoon in your backyard with the people you love.
And sometimes, it means putting the phone down, stepping away from work, and being fully present.
Planning for a Life You Actually Want to Live
There will always be another email.
Another meeting.
Another task on the list.
Another reason to tell yourself you'll make time for the things that matter later.
But later isn't guaranteed.
That's why we believe financial planning should be centered around more than numbers and accounts. It should be about understanding what you're working toward and making sure your financial life supports the life you want to live along the way.
Because success isn't simply about reaching a certain number someday.
It's about having the ability to enjoy the journey, too.
So as summer winds down, we're holding onto the reminders this season has given us: make the plans, save for the future, protect what you've built but don't forget to enjoy the present.
Go to the game. Take the trip. Eat the waffle. Stay for the sunset.
And most importantly, be there for it.
Because those moments aren't distractions from the plan.
They're the reason for it.
